Concert Band Performance
March 5th, 2021 ($5 admission)
Symphonic Band – 6:00 PM (5:20 pm student call time)
Wind Ensemble – 7:00 PM (6:20 pm student call time)
Wind Symphony – 8:00 PM (7:20 pm student call time)
This concert will feature all three UHS concert bands. Vouchers are required.

Perry Band Olympics Results
On February 27, 2021, Urbandale High School Instrumental Music Department entered 67 events into the Perry Band Olympics Solo & Small Ensemble Contest. UHS had 21 “podium finishes” across multiple categories. Congratulations to everyone involved!

Band Placements
Students should be practicing feverishly for 2021-22 band placements, which will take place in lessons from March 29th – April 9th, 2021.  Students will be evaluated on scales, music reading skills, tone quality and technique. We will also take history of attendance, attitude, etc into account.

Marching Band
Drum Major Auditions: Prep Sessions – March 9th, 23rd, and 30th at 7:00 a.m. in Mr. Dupuis’ office.
Audition videos will be due on April 2nd.
*Drum majors are required to audition for All State or SCIBA honor band in the fall.
They must attend the All State mock auditions in order to continue improving throughout the marching season.

Drumline Auditions
Students interested in playing in the Battery-section of the drumline (snare, tenors, basses), should start preparing their audition to be done by April 30th. Exact material will be released soon.

Tentative Dates for Fall 2020

We are aiming for band camp activities to start on Aug. 3, 2021.
Attendance at camp is vital to students’ feelings of success and the band’s quality of performance.  Make plans to be home during the camp dates.

Also, we will rehearse leading up to the July 4th parade; likely the mornings of June 30th, July 1, July 2, and July 3.

*Additional drumline rehearsals will include June 28th, 29th, and August 2.

We are working on next year’s official calendar of events and hope to have it ready in April. More specifics about summer practices and rehearsal dates will be included in a full calendar at that time. We are anticipating a delay in the release of official dates from multiple organizations due to the unique nature of this school year (COVID). An official calendar will be communicated as soon as possible!
