A familiar face accepts a new role as the Head Director of Bands at Urbandale High School.
Congratulations to Mr. Louis Dupuis, who will step into his new role with the bands at the conclusion of the 2018-2019 school year.
From the Desk of Mr. Dupuis:
I am incredibly lucky to continue working with our entire Urbandale music team. Their musicianship, instruction, leadership, and care for all students is what makes the Urbandale Band Department such a wonderful place to learn and grow. I am honored to accept this position and to continue working with such respected and professional music educators.
As I move into my new role at UHS, I am thankful for the supportive students, staff, and members of our community. Without their help, we would not be able to function at such a high level. I look forward to fostering these relationships in order to continue providing students with high-quality performance opportunities.
I would also like to extend a heartfelt ‘thank you’ to Mr. Peterson for his mentorship and years of service. His vision and values for the program have allowed it to flourish over the years. I look forward to continuing the department’s reputation as a successful and student–centered band program.
I am grateful for this opportunity and excited for the coming years!
Biography
I am originally from Ames and graduated from Iowa State University with a Bachelor’s of Music Education degree. During my time at ISU, I was active performing in ensembles such as the ISU Wind Ensemble, jazz ensembles, and jazz combos. I graduated from ISU in December of 2016 and served as a jazz instructor at Southeast Polk High School during the following spring. That fall, I began as the high school band director at Prairie City-Monroe. This will be my second year teaching at Urbandale High School.
My parents are both public school teachers in central Iowa, and my wife teaches third grade in Ankeny. We live in Johnston and are the proud owners of a feisty cat named Leo. My favorite part of the performance process is collaborating with other musicians, and I cannot wait to begin another year together!
